Below is a sampling of some outdoor activities in our area.

Explore Your Public Lands

  • Wrangell-St. Elias National Park is America’s largest national park. The headquarters is located in Copper Center, and two roads provide access to the park’s interior.
  • Bureau of Land Management - Glennallen Field Office manages many of the Copper Basin's campgrounds and beautiful lakes, rivers, and trails.
  • Alaska Department of Fish and Game provides important information and permits for hunting, fishing, and more. 

Fishing Trips and Guides

  • Alaska River Wrangellers offers guided Alaska salmon, trout fishing and rafting trips in the Copper River basin.
  • Klutina Salmon Charters and Campground offers fully equipped, scenic fishing charters either on jet boats or rafts, and options for lodging. 

Rafting, Cruises and Multi-Sport Adventures

  • Gulkana Raft Rentals rents rafts, canoes, camping gear, lodging packages and more. They also offer coordinated pick-up and drop-off on the Gulkana River.
  • Copper Oar specializes in wilderness-based Alaska rafting trips and multi-sport Alaska adventure tours.
  • Stan Stephens Glacier & Wildlife Cruises offers day cruises of Prince William Sound allowing for views of Alaska's abundant marine wildlife and tidewater glaciers.
  • Lu-Lu Belle Glacier Wildlife Cruises offers day cruises through Prince William Sound to the Columbia Glacier.
  • Both Pangaea Adventures and Anadyr Adventures offer day and overnight multi-sport trips including sea kayaking, backpacking, and more. 

Flight Transportation and Flight-Seeing Tours

  • Wrangell Mountain Air offers scheduled air service and day tours to McCarthy-Kennicott from Chitina and Glennallen, charter service from most towns in Alaska, and world-class flightseeing. Adventurous fly-in hiking & backpacking trips, rafting, glacier trekking, & wilderness camping are highly recommend as day, or multi-day adventures.
  • Copper Valley Air Service offers backpacking, hiking, rafting, ice-climbing & mountaineering in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Single & multi-day trips with expert guides. 

Wilderness Guides

  • Kennicott Wilderness Guides offers glacier walks, ice climbing, and fly-in hiking for a day or a week.
  • St. Elias Alpine Guides offers backpacking, hiking, rafting, skiing, ice-climbing & mountaineering in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Single & multi-day trips with expert guides.
